Sizing and Quito to
duel again at Down Royal
SIZING EUROPE and Quito De La Roque will go head-to-head again at Down Royal on Saturday after last year's first and second were declared for the Grade 1 JNwine.com Champion Chase.
In last year's race, Sizing Europe was nabbed close to the line by the fast-finishing Quito De La Roque and Davy Russell in the 3m contest.
Despite last year's result - and Sizing Europe's failure to win over as far as 3m - Coral make the ten-year-old 13-8 favourite for Saturday's race with Quito De La Roque 4-1.
Among the opposition to the pair is the Paul Nicholls-trained Kauto Stone, a half-brother to the recently retired Kauto Star - winner of the JNwine.com Champion Chase in 2008 and 2010. Kauto Stone is 6-1 third favourite for the Grade 1 contest with Coral.
Kauto Stone was successful on the Down Royal card 12 months ago in the Grade 2 Ladbrokes Chase over 2m4f.
Paul Nicholls has won this race for the past four years and again has the sole British representative in the six-runner field in the shape of Cristal Bonus.
Heading the home team is Bog Warrior while the in-form Dessie Hughes has declared Rivage D'Or for the race.
The going at Down Royal was described as good to soft on Thursday morning although showers, some of which could be heavy, are forecast before Saturday's action.
