BROUGH SCOTT, joint-founder of the Racing Post 23 years ago, described himself as "rather touched" on Tuesday after receiving an MBE medal from the Queen at Windsor Castle.
Scott, an award-winning writer, broadcaster and charity worker, was honoured as part of the Queen's birthday honours list in June.
"It was a lovely day and I had my wife and kids with me, so it was terrific," said Scott, who is Injured Jockeys' Fund chairman and a three-time sports feature writer of the year.
"I've been around a long time, but I did feel rather touched by the whole thing. It's slight justification for being around a bit and hopefully some of the things we've done.
"Before I was given the award, it was read out that it was for services to the Injured Jockeys' Fund and horseracing journalism, which I was thrilled about as it is recognition of what the Racing Post has done."
