NICKY HENDERSON unleashes two of his many potential stars at Newbury on Friday, with Punchestowns and Bellvano bidding to get the next chapter of their careers off to a flying start.
Henderson, who saddled a double at Newbury on Thursday, has five runners at his local track - which he lists as his favourite along with Cheltenham - headed by Punchestowns, who makes his debut over fences in the Grade 2 Fuller's London Pride Novices' Chase, and hurdling debutant Bellvano, who goes for the Racing UK National Hunt Maiden Hurdle.
Of Punchestowns, 6-1 joint-favourite for the RSA Chase with William Hill and Bet365, Henderson said: "He's always looked liked a chaser, and we thought about sending him over fences last year. However, we decided to stay over hurdles as he did so well."
The trainer added: "It's an important day for him at Newbury and although he hasn't got many rivals (three), they don't look that bad."
Bellvano has only Dunguib ahead of him in betting on the Supreme Novices' Hurdle, and Henderson said: "Bellvano is a very nice horse and did everything asked of him last season. He has schooled nicely over hurdles at home, and he has the makings of a really nice hurdler."
