WISHFULL THINKING was on Thursday cut to 8-1 (from 10-1) by the sponsors for Tuesday's Boylesports.com Champion Chase at the Punchestown festival, after ten horses remained in the Grade 1 at the final entry stage.
The Philip Hobbs-trained chaser bounced back from a crashing fall in the Sportingbet.com Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival to finish second to Finian's Rainbow in the John Smith's Melling Chase at Aintree.
Boylesports spokeswoman Nicola McGeady said: "Wishfull Thinking looks to be back on track and has attracted a lot of each-way support in the ante-post market."
Among his rivals is 4-6 favourite Sizing Europe and 7-2 chance Big Zeb, as well as 12-1 chance Realt Dubh but Noble Prince looks likely to contest Wednesday's Thetote.com Punchestown Gold Cup instead.
A total of 16 remain in that event with John Smith's Grand National runners Alfa Beat, Ballabriggs, Organisedconfusion, Planet Of Sound, Rare Bob, Seabass and The MidnightClub coming out of the race.
Last year's winner Follow The Plan is in line to defend his crown against Hennessy Gold Cup winner Quel Esprit and last year's Ryanair Novice Chase hero Captain Chris. Growise Novice Chase winner Quito De La Roque also remains in the contest.
Hobbs, trainer of Captain Chris, could bid for back-to-back Ryanair Novice Chase wins having left Aintree winner Menorah in Thursday's Grade 1.
