Like Your Style - Punchestown 08.05.2012

Like Your Style benefits from last-fence drama

Report: Punchestown, Tuesday

Aon Handicap Chase (Grade A) 2m5f, 5yo+

THE JP McManus-owned Like Your Style benefited from a dramatic finish to the Aon Handicap Chase at Punchestown on Tuesday.

Call The Police looked set to collect under Ruby Walsh, but fell at the last and forced Foildubh in second to unseat Paul Carberry.

That left the way clear for Like Your Style, who was ridden by Mark Walsh.

He returned at 12-1 and won by half a length from long-time leader Belle Brook, a 25-1 chance. Ninetieth Minute was third at 6-1.

Winning trainer Edward Harty, who saddled Captain Cee Bee to win the 2008 Supreme Novices' Hurdle for McManus, said: "You need a bit of luck now and again. We were probably a bit unlucky here at the festival with Carrigmartin, but what goes around comes around.

"He would have been a good third, which we would have been delighted with, but we'll take it. And it's extra sweet because this is the first horse JP sent to me after Captain Cee Bee."
