OVERTURN, who finished runner-up in the Stan James Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival last month, is set to bid to go one better in the Rabobank Irish Champion Hurdle at Punchestown on April 27.
The Donald McCain-trained eight-year-old was beaten just under four lengths at Cheltenham and he will be renewing rivalry with Champion Hurdle third Hurricane Fly, who has won the 2m contest for the last two seasons.
Paddy Power are of the opinion that Hurricane Fly can turn the tables on Overturn from Cheltenham, making him the 4-6 favourite, with Overturn next at 5-1.
McCain said of Overturn: "He has been fine since Cheltenham and is working away nicely. We purposely skipped Aintree to go to Punchestown and providing the ground is okay, he will run."
New Year's Eve, another to fill second place at Cheltenham when behind Champagne Fever in the Weatherbys Champion Bumper, could also be heading to Punchestown for the equivalent on Wednesday, April 25.
Trainer John Ferguson said: "He ran very well at Cheltenham and I'm looking forward to him running again. He was a four-year-old running against older horses and time will tell whether or not Punchestown suits him better than Cheltenham."
