Our Conor and Annie Power withdrawn

THE final stage of the Punchestown festival on Saturday will be minus two star attractions following the defection of unbeaten hurdlers Our Conor and Annie Power from the two Grade 1 events on the card.

Our Conor, unbeaten in four starts over hurdles and favourite with many firms for next year's Stan James Champion Hurdle following his impressive win in the JCB Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham last month, misses the AES Champion Four Year Old Hurdle due to the heavy ground.

His trainer Dessie Hughes said: "We decided not to declare Our Conor for Saturday's race because of the ground conditions which have deteriorated during the week."

Annie Power, who is four from four over hurdles and who achieved Grade 1 success at the Fairyhouse Easter festival, misses the Grade 1 ITBA Fillies Scheme EBF Mares Hurdle in which her trainer, Willie Mullins, has two of the five declared - Tarla and Glens Melody.

There will be another big name missing from the festival on Friday as well, with Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle third Pont Alexandre being ruled out of the Grade 1 Tattersalls Ireland Champion Novice Hurdle due to lameness.
