BARRY CONNELL'S Bridgets Pet will get a shot at Grade 1 glory after he was added to next Wednesday's Irish Daily Mirror War Of Attrition Novice Hurdle at Thursday's supplementary stage.
Bridgets Pet, second to Jenari in a Grade 2 at Fairyhouse on his last start, was snapped up by Connell in December and after a poor first run over hurdles won a maiden at Naas in February.
Trainer Tony Mullins feels he has earned a tilt at Grade 1 company before losing his novice tag.
He said: "This is his last chance to run in a novice Grade 1 hurdle and with the ground coming up perfect Barry felt it was worth a shot, so we have decided to supplement him."
The €75,000 event is the latest addition to the meeting's ten Grade 1s and Connell had to stump up €7,500 to enter Bridgets Pet at the final supplementary stage.
Bridgets Pet could face the Philip Hobbs-trained duo of Allthekingshorses and Talkonthestreet as well as the Willie Mullins-trained Cheltenham Festival second Boston Bob and Gigginstown House Stud's impressive Fairyhouse winner Dedigout.
The meeting's first Grade 1 novice hurdle over 2m on Tuesday has attracted 16 entries, although Captain Conan, Darlan, Prospect Wells and The Way We Were were among the absentees.
