Progressive Biographer notches another win
Report: Ascot, Friday
Keltbray Noel Murless Stakes (Listed), 1m 6f, 3yo
THE progressive Biographer posted his third win in six starts as he finished best of all under Ted Durcan to win this Noel Murless in comfortable fashion.
The David Lanigan-trained colt, who has never finished outside of the first two, won by a length and three-quarters at odds of 3-1. Sir Graham Wade edged out Cavaleiro for second.
Good Morning Star cut out much of the running under Joe Fanning, and although she came under pressure before they turned for home, the Mark Johnston-trained filly dug deep and rallied heading down the straight.
That move brought Biographer, who had travelled towards the rear of the pack, under pressure momentarily but he soon found a change of gears and powered through in the final furlong.
Lanigan, who was celebrating his first Ascot winner, said: "He has been a very nice horse all year and he is still only learning. We will probably put him away now and he will be a nice horse for next year. He has done nothing but strengthen, he stays well and he could be anything."
