Harris after big show from Great St Wilfrid duo
THE trainer can't split them, the bookmakers think they have as good a chance as each other and just 1lb separates them in the handicap leaving Secret Witness and Prodigality with live chances of scooping the William Hill Great St Wilfrid at Ripon on Saturday.
Ron Harris trains the pair for owner Paul Moulton and believes both are capable of landing the prize - the richest race of the year at Ripon.
Harris said: "Prodigality has been very unlucky not to win one of these big races this season. He is definitely capable of landing one with a bit luck. He is off the lowest weight he has been for a very, very long time and he will have a really good chance if he runs well.
"Secret Witness is also off a good mark and ran really well last time out. I wouldn't want to split the pair but they both have a really good chance."
The betting for the 6f handicap is headed by the Richard Fahey-trained Baccarat, one of three runners for the trainer, while David O'Meara, who has won the last two runnings of the race with Pepper Lane, also saddles two runners with Dick Bos and Louis The Pious.
Trainers with runners in Ripon's big race are set for a restless night with those wanting rain and those wanting it to remain dry both well represented. The going was described as good on Friday night.
