Premio Loco: trainer unsure about Winter Derby trip but could still goPICTURE: Mark Cranham
Premio Loco a possible for Winter Derby
PREMIO LOCO could be aimed at the Group 3 Winter Derby after making it four wins from five starts on the all-weather at Lingfield on Saturday.
The Chris Wall-trained five-year-old, winner of the valuable London Mile handicap at Kempton last September before finishing sixth in the Cambridgeshire, again showed an impressive turn of foot to beat Red Somerset by half a length under George Baker.
Wall said: "He'd been off the track for a while and this looked a good opportunity to get him back. We'll now go for a Listed race at Kempton in between three and four weeks.
"He didn't seem to get nine furlongs in the Cambridgeshire at Newmarket, but he tore off a shoe which might have happened when he pecked three or four strides after the start.
"I can't say he'll stay a mile and a quarter, as he's so comfortable at a mile. But if things go to plan the Winter Derby could be inthe pipeline. It's very much a bridge to cross when we get there."
