Pique Sous back on the road to festival bid
WEATHERBYS Champion Bumper third Pique Sous belatedly resumes a campaign aimed towards the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at Dundalk after three months off.
The six-year-old, who has a preference for good ground, has been forced to have his first run on the Flat in order to take the next step up in preparation for a potential tilt at the Cheltenham Festival contest, for which he is a 25-1 shot.
Among his rivals is First Impressions, trained by Michael Mulvany.
"The ground is too soft for him to run over hurdles and we're hoping he gets on better here," said Mulvany. "It's his first time running under lights and I have had horses who didn't take to them before."
Lingfield and Wolverhampton also race on the all-weather, while Catterick hosts a jumps meeting. Chepstow's card was abandoned on Thursday.
