ISSA open phone lines for award nominations

THE Irish Stable Staff Association has opened its phone lines in a bid to increase the flow of nominations for its awards next month.

The nomination process began last month with forms available here, from the ISSA offices and at issa.ie, as well as at
many race meetings, but the response has been slow.

ISSA head Bernard Caldwell says that those wishing to nominate worthy persons could now do so by ringing him or the offices of the ISSA directly.

He said: "They are the unsung heroes and those who know who they are and how much work they put in really need to put their hand up and tell us so they can be recognised. It'll only take a minute to make the nomination so please do."

Entries close for the 11 awards on February 20, including the newest addition, the Stud Groom Award.

Caldwell added: "We've had several entries for the Stud Groom Award, but like all the othercategories we could do with a few more."

Those wishing to phone in nominations can call Caldwell on 086 265 3455 or the ISSA offices on 045 432 911.

Prizes are separated out into five groups of counties with an award for a groom in a Flat yard and in a jumps yard from each of the areas.

There will be only one stud groom prize.

The awards dinner will be held on March 3 at Keadeen Hotel in
Newbridge, County Kildare.
