Perrett confident Villain will bounce back to form
ARCH VILLAIN, whose three-race unbeaten run came to an end when finishing eighth in the Northumberland Plate, looks set to make his return after just missing the cut for the Ebor last week.
The four-year-old began the season in top form, winning his first two starts at Newmarket and Goodwood, and trainer Amanda Perrett told the Racing & Football Outlook he may head back to Goodwood next month in a bid to bounce back to form.
"He did well at three, but he did particularly well over the winter and has improved throughout the campaign," Perrett said in this week's Trainer File. "He won his first two races of the season and, although he hasn't won since, he has really progressed.
"I had hoped to run him in the Ebor last weekend but we just missed getting in. There is a 2m handicap at Goodwood on September 3."
Arch Villain, who has an official rating of 90, also carries an entry in the Betfred Cesarewitch and is a general 33-1 shot for the valuable Newmarket handicap on October 12.
