Flute leads the dance for Graffard and Rispoli
Report: France, Saturday
Longchamp: Prix du Palais-Royal (Group 3) 7f, 3yo+
PEARL FLUTE (Francis Graffard/Umberto Rispoli) struck an early blow for the this season's Classic crop when showing a real turn of foot to lead home the Andre Fabre-trained Tulips.
Last seen when showing up well for a long way in the Poule d'Essai des Poulains, Qatar Racing's son of Piccolo was always well placed in the chasing group behind the fierce early pace of Blue Soave.
Rispoli briefly searched for daylight before manoeuvring Paerl Flute into the clear, after which his mount picked up in fine style.
"He was a pacemaker for Havana Gold in the Poule d'Essai but he ran really well and I was thrilled with his performance," revealed Graffard.
"I was really worried about him on holding ground but the owners said we should run and so this is great. We'll have to discuss it but he could go for the Jersey Stakes."
