Punters fall short in Super7 but Tote pleased by turnover
THE Totesuper7 proved too difficult for punters at the first attempt on Wednesday, with winners at Doncaster and Uttoxeter so tough to find that nobody who played the bet on its inaugural day could find six winners either.
There were, however, three punters who collected a dividend of £1,023.80 after successfully selecting five winners, including a William Hill customer who staked the minimum £2.
Total turnover on day one of the Tote's second new bet of 2008 was £15,396, and spokesman Paul Petrie said: "We're very pleased with how the bet was received.
"Turnover is in line with expectations and is broadly similar to that achieved for our midweek Totescoop6 specials.
"The bet proved too difficult today, but five winners still paid a four-figure sum and, with the £100,000 guarantee still up for grabs, we expect interest to keep on growing."
Totesport were expected to sponsor the penultimate race at Brighton today as the Totesuper7 Handicap, but pulled out, deciding not to include the race in the betafter viewing final declarations.
Petrie explained: "There was a last-minute sponsorship opportunity, but after looking at the race we decided not to include it in the Super7."
