Dobbs delivers Dr Faustus for last-gasp win
Report: UAE, Sunday
Abu Dhabi
JOCKEY Pat Dobbs produced a masterclass on Dr Faustus in the 1m3f handicap, the only thoroughbred race at Abu Dhabi on Sunday evening.
Pat Dobbs: calculated move
PICTURE: Mark CranhamDobbs made a calculated decision to challenge between rivals close home as the son of Sadler's Wells gained a second win in the UAE for trainer Doug Watson, having also scored twice in Britain for Sir Michael Stoute.
Watson said: "He is a great horse to have in the yard and always capable of winning if things go his way. He has been unlucky, finishing fast here at Abu Dhabi and at Meydan on so many occasions.
"He just needs things to fall right and Dobbsie was superb - he switched in between rivals rather than forfeit ground and go outside and that has probably made the difference.
"There is a race for him at Meydan in two weeks and, without knowing what the handicapper's plans, that is the plan but it is great to see him win again."
