Japan: Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe second Orfevre will have a chance to exact revenge over his Longchamp conqueror Solemia when the two clash in the Japan Cup on November 25.
Orfevre's trainer Yasutoshi Ikee said on Friday that the four-year-old would run in the Grade 1, while Solemia's connections said earlier this month they intended to run in the race and expected to fly out next Tuesday.
The decision to run Orfevre, so narrowly denied by Solemia at Longchamp last month, was made by Ikee after watching Orfevre work at Ritto Training Centre on Friday morning, his first piece of hard work since returning from quarantine.
Ikee said: "I watched his movement, breathing and condition after today's work and it is perfect. Orfevre was like a body builder before the Arc, so he looks smaller now. But I think he will be back [to how he was] after he eats and works well."
