TOM SCUDAMORE has given further backing to the John Smith's Grand National chances of Or Noir De Somoza after trainer David Pipe's bullish update earlier this week.
Scudamore will be aboard the nine-year-old, whose Grand National-winning trainer said "is one of the classiest horses in the race" on Tuesday, at Aintree in eight days as he seeks his first National at the 12th attempt.
Or Noir De Somoza, the winner of more than £1 million during his timein France where he also collected three Group 1's, has schooled well over Pipe's mock National fences according to Scudamore who feels his mount is the "forgotten horse" of the National field.
Writing in his blog on the Exeter racecourse website, Scudamore said: "I've schooled Or Noir De Somoza a couple of times over David Pipe's Grand National-style fences and I couldn't be happier. He jumpedreally well and he's a very good horse. I can't help thinking he's the forgotten horse of the race.
"I'm really looking forward to riding Or Noir De Somoza. As well as being on a good horse, you also need a lot of luck in the race and we'll try and keep out of trouble and hopefully have a good ride around."
Or Noir De Somoza's price varies between 33-1 and 50-1 for the Grand National on April 9.
