Fehily: Bobs Worth my main danger in Gold Cup

NOEL FEHILY, who will aim to cap a fine campaign with victory on Silviniaco Conti in the Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup in March, has identified last year's winner Bobs Worth as the one to beat in the festival's showpiece race.

Fehily is closing in on 100 winners for the first time in a season and partnered the Paul Nicholls-trained Silviniaco Conti to victory in the King George VI Chase at Kempton last month.

The eight-year-old is a general 7-2 for the Gold Cup - only 9-4 favourite Bobs Worth is shorter - and is likely to head straight to Cheltenham where he will meet the market leader, who is well regarded by Fehily.

Trained by Nicky Henderson, Bobs Worth flopped when sixth behind Cue Card in the Betfair Chase - Silviniaco Conti was third under Fehily - but bounced back to win the Lexus in good style last month.

"Bobs Worth was very impressive last time and loves Cheltenham - he's the one to beat," said the rider.

"I've not sat on Silviniaco Conti recently and probably won't until just before the Gold Cup. He goes on most ground and it was a good performance at Kempton - I was very happy."

The son of Dom Alco was going nicely under Ruby Walsh in last year's race only to fall three out.

"He was travelling very well, but who knows what would've happened," added Fehily.
