Noble Hachy earns shot at Italian 1,000 Guineas

Report: Italy, Sunday

Capannelle: Premio Carlo Chiesa (Group 3) 6f, turf, 3yo+ fillies and mares

UNBEATEN Noble Hachy (Luigi Riccardi/Cristian Demuro) earned herself a tilt at the Premio Regina Elena (Italian 1,000 Guineas) with a decisive defeat of Malikayah and ten other fillies in the opening Group race of the year in Italy.

A daughter of Kyllachy, this fourth success of her career confirms she has the credentials to play a prominent part in the first fillies Classic on April 29, when she will be up against leading fancies Cherry Collect, Last Night Show and Dark Ray, all of whom have made winning starts to 2012 against inferior opposition.

Noble Hachy was always up with the pace on Sunday and went on with Malikayah inside the final quarter-mile and had to be shaken up to see off that rival entering the final furlong.

She went on to win by a length and a half, with Demuro waving with delight as he stood up in the irons passing the line.

It was three lengths back to third-placed Adamantina, who had finished runner-up in last season's Regina Elena but has not won since her juvenile career.

Docksil was the last winner of this race to go on to contest the Regina Elena, but failed to stay in the Classic, although two years ago Zobenigo claimed third place in both races.

Noble Hachy races as though she will stay further than 6f but her ability to stay 1m is not something that can be taken as read.
