The five-year-old's only defeat in six starts came when he finished sixth in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham last March, and since then he has won the Grade 2 Aintree equivalent as well as his first two starts over hurdles, on the most recent occasion beating a decent field over 2m5f at Cheltenham.
Trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies confirmed him an intended runner in Warwick's 2m5f contest better known as the Leamington Novices' Hurdle, reporting: "He's had a few niggling problems but he's fine now and should be in top form on Saturday."
Twiston-Davies will have high hopes of a big-race double at Warwick, with Major Malarkey a likely runner in the Betfred Classic Chase.
He said of the general 12-1 shot: "We've been waiting for better ground and he wouldn't have to improve much on his first run of the season when second at Sandown. If he runs about the same hopefully he'll win."
