Setback forces Burton Port to miss season
BURTON PORT, who was as short as 14-1 with the sponsors for the Totesport Gold Cup, will miss both his big-race target and the remainder of the season.
The Nicky Henderson-trained seven-year-old, who beat all bar Weapon's Amnesty in last season's RSA Chase, has been seen just once this year, finishing second to Diamond Harry in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury in November.
Henderson said: "I'm sorry to report that Burton Port is going to need a sabbatical as a result of a setback following his fantastic performance when runner-up in the Hennessy Gold Cup.
"I'd hoped the injury would prove insignificant, but tests have shown otherwise and we've been advised that, with his long term future in mind, it would be prudent to rest him for the remainder of this season."
