Trained by Paul Nicholls for Andrea and Graham Wylie, the five-year-old finished second behind Utopie Des Bordes in a Grade 1 chase at Auteuil on his last start. The winner subsequently joining Nicky Henderson.
Nicholls has dropped Fago back in trip, and said: "He had some nice form in France, but didn't seem to be getting home in his last two starts so we've decided to drop him in trip. I can't tell you an awful lot about him, but he does show plenty of speed at home."
Colour Squadron provides the main opposition to Fago in the chase after Newbury's card passing an inspection at 9am.
With Newcastle already abandoned the rest of the day's action is on the all-weather, with Lingfield and Kempton staging cards.
