Jockey George Baker dropped the James Fanshawe-trained 7-1 shot to the back of the field leaving the stalls as Waveband made the pace.

Running into the Dip, Take Ten forged to the front under Joe Fanning with Jira and Kosei Muira running on strongly up the stands' rail.

But they were challenged in final furlong by the Simon Gibson-owned Society Rock, who ran on strongly despite drifting across the track late on.

Take Ten was second at 4-1 for trainer Mark Johnston and Jira was third at 6-1.

Fanshawe said: "The win is fantastic for Mr Gibson who's been a good supporter of me for years and also had Polar Ben with me.

"His first run over seven furlongs didn't really work and he could just be a sprinter. Whether he goes for the race over seven furlongs in two weeks (Tattersalls Timeform Million) we'll have to see."
