Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes (Group 2) 1m, 2yo colts and geldings

COLM O'DONOGHUE kept it simple on Daddy Long Legs, letting him stride along in front and stretch clear to beat stablemates Tenth Star and Wrote.

O'Donoghue would appear to have been a keen observer of the action at Newmarket this week with frontrunners performing well and he bounced the leggy son of Scat Daddy out straight in the lead.

Moving fluidly over the ground, Daddy Long Legs was tracked by favourite Farhaan while Aidan O'Brien-trained stablemate Wrote was anchored at the back of the field.

Farhaan moved out to try and join the leader with half a mile to go but seemed unable to stride on on the ground and gradually weakened.

Running into the Dip, 11-4 chance Daddy Long Legs stretched away from his rivals and thundered clear to win by three and a quarter lengths.

Team Ballydoyle completed a clean sweep on the places as Tenth Star just held off Wrote in a final furlong battle but they were well eclipsed by the winner, who was introduced into the Qipco 2,000 Guineas betting at 33-1 by William Hill.

O'Donoghue said: "He's very smooth up through the gears and is a very nice horse. He's a big horse with a great action and will keep improving."

O'Brien indicated that the Racing Post Trophy would be considered for the winner along with the Breeders' Cup races due to him being by dirt sire Scat Daddy.
