WILLIAM BUICK has opted to ride The Fugue, one of two John Gosden runners, in Sunday's Qipco 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket.
Gosden's stable jockey prefers the unbeaten daughter of Dansili, a 16-1 chance with Ladbrokes but as big as 25-1 with BetVictor, to stablemate Starscope who he steered into fourth on her trial in the Group 3 Nell Gwyn Stakes at Newmarket last month.
The Fugue overcame greenness to score on her debut over seven furlongs at Newmarket last October and she has been showing up well in her recent work.
Gosden's former stable number one Jimmy Fortune is to take over on Starscope. He enjoyed Classic success with the trainer when landing the St Leger with Lucarno in 2007.
Gosden said: "At the moment the plan is for William to ride The Fugue and Jimmy Fortune has been booked to ride our other runner, Starscope. Both fillies are in good order and hopefully they should handle whatever ground it is at the weekend."
In the Qipco 2,000 Guineas, Jamie Spencer has been booked for the Richard Hannon-trained
