The Coventry Stakes runner-up was produced to take the lead about a furlong from home but slowed in the heavy ground close home and allowed Birdman to close to within a head.
Hughes said of the winning 6-4 favourite: "I'm not sure about the ground for him but these Choisir's seem to go on anything. He missed a few days the other week and probably just blew up in the last 100 yards."
Maxentius, who briefly led until Olympic Glory took over, came home in third.
A fusillade of 2,000 Guineas quotes from enterprising bookmakers followed the race, with William Hill offering 33-1 about Olympic Glory and BetVictor just 20-1 (from 25).
