SILVER GRECIAN came with a perfectly timed challenge under Michael Hills to maintain his unbeaten record in the Group 2 Superlative Stakes.
The 5-1 chance was settled towards the rear of the field as Silenceofthewind and favourite Emperor Claudius set a modestearly gallop.
The field were still well bunched heading towards the final furlong and it was just a question of if a gap would appear for Silver Grecian.
Michael Hills waited and waited and the gap finally came forthe winner who quickened in fine style to win with a little in hand.

The likes of Dr Devious and Dubawi have won the Superlative in the past and the winning jockey thinks Silver Grecian could prove to be another top class recruit.
Hills said: “I loved this horse from day one when I sat on him at the breeze-up. I told John [Ryan, winning trainer] to buy him and the rest is history.
“John only has a small team but they are so well presented and he has done a great job building this ones confidence.”
Ryan added: "It's been a team effort and Michael has been with me all the way.
"We'vealways thought this horse was nice and I made a confident decision to enter him for the Chesham at Royal Ascot, but we just felt the horse needed more confidence.
"It took two nice little races to get him here and although his last one came a little closer than we wanted ideally, he came home from that and looked like he'd come off a gallop.
"He made it look easy in the end, the trainer must be very good!
"It's been an unbelievable season and this was always the target. I'll think about where he'll go next tomorrow."
Blue Square make Silver Grecian a 33-1 chance for the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket next May.
