Duntle absent as four declared for Falmouth
DUNTLE, winner of the Group 2 Duke of Cambridge Stakes for David Wachman at Royal Ascot last month, will not be journeying over again from Ireland for the Etihad Airways Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket on Friday having not featured among the final declarations for the Group 1.
Her absence leaves just four runners to go to post, with last year's one-two Giofra and Elusive Kate set to do battle again. Although light on numbers the race is not lacking in quality with 1,000 Guineas and Coronation Stakes winner Sky Lantern also set to line up.
Richard Hannon jnr said on At The Races on Wednesday morning: "She seems in great form and we've been very happy with her work since Ascot. She's taking on older mares but we're very hopeful."
Purr Along completes the field for the Falmouth, with Frankie Dettori set for his first ride in his new role as retained rider for Sheikh Joaan Al Thani.
Queen Mary winner Rizeena heads a field of eight for the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes, formerly the Cherry Hinton.
Clive Brittain's filly will renew rivalries with One Chance and Fig Roll, who finished third and fourth behind her at Ascot, while Princess Noor and Lucky Kristale have also been declared.
