Captain Brilliance made Bunbury Cup favourite

JEREMEY NOSEDA  landed a huge gamble with Forgotten Voice in the Royal Hunt Cup at Ascot last month, and Ladbrokes, who sponsor Friday's Bunbury Cup, are paying due respect to the trainer by making his improving four-year-old Captain Brilliance their 6-1 favourite for the Newmarket handicap.

Jeremy Noseda: plan is to run

The Officer colt ran twice as a juvenile - winning once - but missed the whole of last year, only to return to winning form over the Bunbury Cup's course-and-distance last month.

Noseda said: "Captain Brilliance won well over the course and distance a fortnight ago, and, though he will have to race off an 8lb higher mark, the plan is to run."

Giganticus, up 7lb for winning the Buckingham Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, meets third-placed Redford on 6lb worse terms, and the sponsors have the Michael Bell-trained four-year-old second-best at 7-1, with Giganticus an 8-1 chance. Connections of Redford are hoping for some showers next week to ease the ground.
