SHE was giving weight to everything and was keen enough early doors, but it did not stop Izzi Top having too much class in the Dahlia Stakes under William Buick.
Grey mare Captivator (6-1) ran on for second past the long-time leader Primevere with favourite Timepiece never looking like winning and finishing adrift of the front three.
Winning trainer John Gosden said before the race that Izzi Top would improve for the run so this bodes well for the future, particularly as she was pulling her rider's arms out early on.
"She was a bit keen early, getting no cover which was not ideal," said Buick. "She's done it well and is real tough - she's a good filly. There is a lot of improvement in her."
A slow early pace hindered some of the 3-1 winner's rivals, but take nothing any for her performance as she won with the authority which suggests she is on the upgrade.
This was probably Izzi Top's best performance since she won the Swettenham Stud Fillies' Trial at Newbury 12 months ago when she beat Investec Oaks winner Dancing Rain.
