MAYSON followed up his win in the Abernant Stakes at Newmarket just over two weeks ago with a determined win on Saturday.
Trained by Richard Fahey and ridden by Paul Hanagan, Mayson travelled strongly on the wide outside of the 16 runners before moving up to challenge running into the Dip.
Definightly was making him work hard to get to the front while Elusivity came home strongly in the centre to make it a three-way go for the lead.
But 7-2 favourite Mayson was too powerful for his rivals as he met the rising ground and ran on to take the win by three-quarters of a length.
Fahey said: "That's an absolute minimum for him and he'll go back over six now. He'll definitley run at York [in the Duke Of York Stakes] as it's just down the road and I'll put him in the July Cup on Tuesday, although he would have to win before running there.
"I have no idea how he got beat in the Ayr Gold Cup last year off 100 as I thought he was a certainty."
