Relive Frankel's incredible Qipco 2,000 Guineas victory

Fabulous Frankel rated best-ever Guineas winner

BRILLIANT Newmarket winner Frankel has been assigned the highest Racing Post Rating for a 2,000 Guineas winner since the service started in 1988.

He was given a provisional rating of 133, eclipsing the previous best of 131 set by King's Best in 2000.

Racing Post Ratings expert Paul Curtis said: "Frankel's astonishing performance puts him firmly in the superstar status, with an initial Racing Post Rating of 133 ranking him the best 2,000 Guineas winner in RPR history, surpassing the 131 high set byKing's Best in 2000.

"That's an extraordinary high figure for the time of year, but this was an extraordinary performance with an unconventional result and the sort of beaten distances that ordinarily have no place in a race likethe Guineas."

While Frankel still has some way to go before reaching the heights scaled by the great Sea The Stars, he comfortably recorded a superior Guineas performance than Sea The Stars managed.

However, Curtis cautioned that the tactics adopted on Frankel and his free-wheeling style of running may mean the performance seen by Frankel on Saturday revealed more about his capabilities that the famously restrained performances of Sea The Stars.

Curtis said: "In contrast to Sea The Stars (138), Frankel's style of running leaves little doubt as to the measure of his ability and given his profile, one might expect him to rate higher still.

"The 2009 championrated 124 after his Guineas, though it could be argued that Frankel has shown his hand rather more."
