Stipulate impressive in Feilden Stakes for Cecil

Report: Newmarket, Wednesday

Blue Square Feilden Stakes (Listed) 1m1f, 3yo

STIPULATE proved the class act here as he burst clear inside the final furlong for a decisive win. The Sir Henry Cecil-trained colt scoredat 8-1, ahead of long-time front-runner Mister Music.

The four-and-a-half-length victory was a further boost for the Cecil stable following the news that Frankel has been given the green light to resume training.

Hopes will be high that Stipulate, like Frankel owned by Prince Khalid Abdullah, can go on to better things after showing a good mix of speed and stamina.

He is entered in the Betfred Dante Stakes at York next month, although Cecil indicated there were other options for a colt who looks more suited to 1m2f than 1m4f.

“He’s been working nicely,” the trainer said. “He was a bit fresh early and hopefully he will come on for that. He’s done well physically and we’ll have to see how we pick our races. He’s got speed but will get one and a quarter miles all right. He could be the sort for the Dee Stakes.”

Tom Queally bided his time on Stipulate at the rear of the seven-runner field before bringing him with a strong run that was far too good for his rivals.

Mister Music (28-1) held on for second, a length ahead of Producer (4-1). Perennial, the 5-4 favourite and also owned by Abdullah, was one of the first to throw down his challenge but faded into sixth.
