Newcastle to inspect again at 8am on Tuesday
NEWCASTLE will inspect at 8am on Tuesday morning for the meeting later that day after there was improvement in conditions at a 2pm check on Monday.
The course remains partly frozen in places after temperatures failed to rise as much as forecast but clerk of the course James Armstrong remains optimistic of racing.
He said: "Basically the temperatures haven't reached as high as forecast today. They've got up to 4C and it's remained cloudy but conditions are improving slowly.
"Hopefully the temperatures should stay above freezing and get up to 4-5C tomorrow so hopefully we'll be able to race."
