Skelton aiming Baile Anrai at Rehearsal Chase

DAN SKELTON, who has made a flying start to his training career, is eyeing Saturday's Listed At The Races Rehearsal Chase to provide him with his biggest winner so far.

Skelton has already sent out nine winners in his first season training and feels the 3m race could suit Baile Anrai, who joined the yard from Ian Williams.

The nine-year-old, a three-time winner over fences, shaped encouragingly on debut for Skelton when third over hurdles at Huntingdon.

The trainer said: "He's a better chaser than hurdler and ran quite nicely at Huntingdon. I jut think off a low weight a race like that might suit him.

"I had a conversation with the owner and said we could go for a 0-125 three days of the week, why not try our hand at a more valuable race and see what we've got left in the tank."

A total of 17 entries were received for the Rehearsal Chase at Newcastle, where the going was on Tuesday described as good to soft, soft in places.

Skelton is hoping the dry forecast for the rest of the week proves correct. "He doesn't want the ground too bad and I'd be happy with it not raining," he added.
