Argento next target for Midnight Chase

MIDNIGHT CHASE, third in the Grade 3 Rowland Meyrick Chase at Wetherbylast month, is set to return to his favoured Cheltenham for the Argento Chase on January 28.

The Neil Mulholland-trained ten-year-old has only finished out of the first three once in seven starts at the track and that was his fifth in the Gold Cup last season.

The trainer was pleased with Midnight Chase at Wetherby despite his 16-length defeat.

He said on Saturday: "He's in good form and there's a sparkle in his eye. He will go for the Argento Chase. He's a better horse round Cheltenham. It'sa good race and we will see how he gets on."

Mulholland also had news on Mad Max, who is yet to have his first run for the yard, having previously been with Nicky Henderson.

"He's in good order and will hopefully run at Haydock in two weeks' time - there are two races for him there," he added.
