Navan gets all clear for big Tuesday card

RACING fans are in for a Tuesday treat as Navan got the go-ahead to stage its rescheduled card, which features four Grade 2s, after passing an inspection on Monday morning.

With Sunday's original fixture put back to Tuesday, the threat of waterlogging remained and forced officials to check the course at 7.30am on Monday.

Turf Club spokesman Cliff Noone said: "Following a course inspection at Navan today the course was found to be fit for racing and the fixture scheduled for Tuesday, February 19 will go ahead as planned.

"The first of eight races commences at 1.40pm and the ground is currently heavy."

Some big names have been declared for the Grade 2s with Rubi Light tackling three in the Red Mills Chase and Thousand Stars up against leading Grand National contender On His Own in the six-strong Ladbrokes Boyne Hurdle.

Tofino Bay, entered for the RSA Chase, National Hunt Chase and Jewson Novices' Chase at Cheltenham, will line up for the Irish Form Book Ten Up Novice Chase, while fellow Gigginstown Stud runner Dedigout takes on four rivals in the Flyingbolt Novice Chase.
