Fehily plans midweek return if weather relents

NOEL FEHILY, who missed the Christmas period due to injury, expects to be back in racecourse action by the middle of this week, weather permitting.

Charlie Mann's stable jockey has not sat on a horse since cracking his collarbone in a fall at Fontwell on December 23.

However, the rider now believes he is close to a return to full fitness and has allowed himself to be booked for two Mann inmates at Hereford on Thursday, though the track was last night reported to be frozen.

Fehily, who was forced to miss the King George VI Chase mount on stable star Air Force One, said: "I'll be back at some point from the middle to the end of the week, assuming there is a meeting on. The injury has been coming along nicely and I am pretty much on target. I have been getting in the pool quite a lot, but I have been putting off riding out until Tuesday or Wednesday."
