Musselburgh to inspect for Friday fixture
OFFICIALS at Musselburgh will inspect the course at 7am on Friday to determine if racing that day can go ahead.
The threat of temperatures onThursday night dipping below freezing has prompted clerk of the course Harriet Graham to call the inspection.
Speaking on Thursday morning, she said: "We're forecast to get -1C tonight, but if it's any colder we'd start to worry.
"The course is perfectly raceable today - it's 9C now - but there's some cold moving in from the north tonight so we felt we ought to have an inspection."
Friday's temperatures are forecast to be around 4C and Graham is optimistic about the track's chances if the outlook is correct.
"Some [forecasts] are saying we'll get between 0C and -1C tonight and as long as the temperatures rise on Friday we'll be fine," she added.
Musselburgh is due to stage a seven-race card, starting at 12.40. The going is described as good.
