Farringdon confirmed for Sunday's MCR Hurdle
PRUNELLA DOBBS on Sunday confirmed her New Years Eve Punchestown runner-up Farringdon an intended runner in next Sunday’s MCR Hurdle at Leopardstown.
The 2m handicap, formerly known as the Pierse Hurdle and previously sponsored by Ladbrokes, will be narroweddown from 62 initial entries at the five-day stage on Tuesday.
The County Wicklow trainer said of her charge, owned by neighbour Peter Savill and 12-1 second favourite for the race:
"He has been very consistent for us and with the exception of his run in the Vincent O’Brien County Hurdle last March he hasn’t finished out of the first four since early 2008, so I’m hoping for more of the same next weekend."
Last month’s Fairyhouse 2m conditions hurdle winner, who trailed home with just one behind him at Cheltenham last March, chased home the well-handicapped Beroni in a 2m4f handicap hurdle at Punchestown.
"He was up against it last Thursday and he couldn’t really score against that horse who looked very well in, but he ran a good true race and he came out of it fine,” added Dobbs, who is looking forward to her first runner in the valuable handicap at the Dublin track.
"I have only seven horses in training and this will be new territory for me but they are all running well and I’m looking forward to the race."
