Jezki - Leopardstown 27.12.12

Jezki stars in Future Champions Hurdle

Report: Leopardstown, Thursday

Paddy Power Future Champions Novice Hurdle (Grade 1) 2m

JEZKI put up another striking performance to keep his unbeaten record over hurdles in good style at Leopardstown.

It was a performance that saw him leap to the head of the market for the William Hill Supreme Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. He is 6-1 (from 10) with BetVictor and Paddy Power.

Trained by Jessica Harrington, Jezki had put up three bold performances to take all of his previous starts over hurdles to date, and he delivered another commanding run to win this time around.

Having initially been held up, Jezki crept through the field to track the leaders turning for home and was upsides Bright New Dawn as they reached the final hurdle with Waaheb scrubbed along beside them.

Slick over the last, jockey Robbie Power shook the reins at his mount and he shot clear to take a the prize with Waaheb second and Bright New Dawn third.

Jessica Harrigton said: "Robert said that they went so quick that he was almost off the bridle until they got halfway down the back and when he came on the bridle he didn't have to move a muscle on him, even taking a pull going to the last.

"For that ground they went very quick and I'm delighted with that. We'll either go straight to Cheltenham or come back here for the Deloitte Novice Hurdle in February."
