Owner expects big things from Sir Gerry in Dubai

FORMER Gimcrack Stakes winner Sir Gerry will head to warmer weather next week with connections adamant that the former star sprinter can recapture his old glory days inthe sunshine of Dubai.

A year of injuries and disappointing performances did little for Sir Gerry's reputation, but the John Best-trained five-year-old, whose race record includes a Group 1 placing, goes to the Dubai Carnival with owner Gerry Galligan expecting big things.

Galligan said: "People have been quick to write him off, but we are hoping a trip to Meydan will bring a change of luck and bear some fruit.

"We've turned down offers to go to stud in Britain and France but we have offers still on the table for studs in Australia and New Zealand so we will consider them after we see how he fairs out in Dubai."
