Kauto Relko fails to fire over hurdles at Cork
KAUTO RELKO, a half brother to Kauto Star, failed to match the level of his brilliant sibling's King George display when he fell at the second last in the McCarthy Insurance Group Hurdle at Cork on Saturday.
The race was won by Bostons Angels, the outsider in the three-runner contest, but Kauto Relko, who is set to be switched to Paul Nicholls for a novice chase campaign next season, was beaten when he took a crashing fall.
The winner, who was ridden by Robbie Power and is trained by Jessica Harrington, returned at 4-1, while Mr Warbucks, the 5-4 joint favourite with Kauto Relko, was two lengths back in second.
Harrington said: "He was doing nothing the whole way round and needs a big pair of blinkers."
Mr Warbucks' trainer Adrian Maguire said: ""I'm happy with him. They went quick enough and maybe two miles two over hurdles is too short for him. I'll freshen him up now and come back for Leopardstown or Punchestown."
