TAROOQ showed a blistering turn of foot to claim this rearranged contest and set a new course record of 1m 8.25 seconds, over a second faster than the previous best.
Trained by David Barron, Tarooq skimmed the rail under jockey Graham Gibbons before bursting through to lead in the final furlong to record a comfortable length-and-a-half success at 7-1.
The race was set up for the closers with speedsters Equitania and Addictive Dream going flat out from the stalls and as their efforts came to an end Tarooq made his move.
The seven-year-old, a four-time winner at Lingfield, quickly opened a gap on his rivals and crossed the line well in command on his second start for trainer David Barron.
Tarooq stopped the clock at 1m 8.25 seconds beating the previous course record of 1m 9.42 seconds set by Valbchek last month.
Gibbons said: "They went very quick which played into his hands. I stayed to the inside there and he has done it very well.
"He takes a while to warm into a race but he knows his way around here.
"I knew that he'd come on for his first run and I think there is another step up for him."
