Hong Kong Cup could be next for Cirrus Des Aigles
TRAINER Corine Barande-Barbe has confirmed another crack at the Hong Kong Cup is the plan for Cirrus Des Aigles who was second to Frankel in Saturday's Champion Stakes at Ascot.
The six-year-old gelding, who won the Champion last year, ran with credit against the world's best horse, finishing a length and three-quarters behind him.
He was fifth of ten in the Hong Kong Cup last year and Barande-Barbe said: "I'm feeling great. It was an honour to meet Frankel and I'm very proud of my gelding.
"There was a moment when I thought maybe he could do it and I think all the English people around me thought it just for half a second.
"It was a great day and it was like a victory to make Frankel gallop.
"There are no regrets, we are proud and can show we're the best in the world with Frankel going to stud."
Speaking to At The Races on Sunday morning, she added: "He'll probably go to Hong Kong. I saw him after the race and he looked great and I've been told this morning he's eaten everything and is happy."
The Hong Kong Cup, backed by Longines for the first time this year, takes place at Sha Tin on December 9.
