Calidoscopio comes from the clouds in Brooklyn

Report: USA, Friday

Belmont Park: Brooklyn Hcap (Grade 2) 1m4f, dirt, 3yo+

BREEDERS' Cup Marathon winner Calidoscopio (Mike Puype/ Aaron Gryder) took the Brooklyn with an extraordinary display to nail Percussion in the dying strides at a rain-sodden Belmont Park.

The nine-year-old made history at Santa Anita last November when he became the first South American-trained horse to win at the Breeders' Cup in the Marathon over 1m6f.

Now with Mike Puype in southern California, he made the most of his stamina to cut down Percussion, who tried to make all in grizzly conditions with standing water all over the racing surface.

Having been at least 25 lengths adrift at halfway, former Argentine-trained Calidoscopio circled entire the field, splashing through the mud under a finely-timed ride from Aaron Gryder for an amazing victory at odds of 15-2.
