King hoping weight will not stop Midnight Sail
ALAN KING has described his Greatwood Gold Cup contender Midnight Sail as "every trainer's dream" and hopes a 7lb hike in the weights will not stop the ten-year-old making it back-to-back Saturday successes.
Owned by the M 2 C Racing Partnership, the son of Midnight Legend stayed on strongly to win at Kempton last weekend and is 9-1 to follow up in the Greatwood, Newbury's feature race on Saturday.
"Midnight Sail is every trainer's dream in that he is so consistent," said King, quoted on his website.
"He is so reliable and finished second four times off the spin before getting bogged down in the heavy ground at Plumpton.
"However, he was back on song at Kempton last week, where the key was the improved going. He travelled well the whole way round and quickened up nicely and though he is now 7lb higher, he deserves his shot at this decent prize."
The Knoxs is 4-1 market leader to give trainer Paul Nicholls his sixth win in the race in the last eight years.
