HOOF IT, who missed a clash with Black Caviar in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes because of a poor scope, could reappear in races at Newcastle or Newmarket this weekend as part of his preparation for a crack at the Darley July Cup.

The Mick Easterby-trained sprinter has been entered in the 6f Chipchase Stakes at Newcastle and the John Sunley Memorial Criterion Stakes over 7f at Newmarket, both Group 3 races, but may not run at all if the ground is too soft.
"We are entering him at Newcastle and at Newmarket but we are uncertain where we are going to run because of the trip, ground, etc," said Easterby's son and assistant David.
"The only thing we agreed on at the start of the season was not to run him on extremes of going because it could set him back for other races. Unless they dry up we might not play."
Hoof It won the Stewards' Cup at Goodwood under 10st last summer and was moved straight into Group 1 company, acquitting himself well in both the Nunthorpe and Sprint Cup at Haydock. He was fifth on his return this season in the Duke Of York.
